Citadel Adbar lies east of Coldwood in the Ruathim Mountains and Northwest of Anauroch desert. From a bird’s wiev, it is 960 miles northwest of Battledale in a straight line. If you don’t cross the Anauroch desert, the way around the desert is approximatly double. Adbar is the largest and most well defended kingdom north of Amn, that is in the northern Faerun, since it has withstood almost a hundred major orc attacks over the centuries. The city is lead by King Harbromm. The layout of the city is so that all the fabrics are on the surface and the living quarters and temples are situated below ground. The population is about 20000 dwarves. The dwarves live in a clan society, lead by the clan elder. Every dwarf of the same clan lives in the same part of the cave. King Harbromm does the overall ruling of Adbar, allways listening to his clan elders. Reaching Adbar is almost impossible using the surface. All trade goes under the mountains through Mirabar and Mithral Hall. The weather at Adbar is as its population: hard, cold and unforgiving. The security of the fortress is taken care of by the Adbar militia and the special troops called The Iron Guard. The Iron Guard is one of the finest companies of battle in the entire northern Faerun.
Doomnair
The warrior Thordek Doomhammer founded the clan 2530 years ago. Thordek started his life as a young recruit of the Iron guard. Already in his first few years in the company, his officers saw the eager intelligence and that he would excell in using his mighty greataxe. He quickly rose through the ranks and became one of the elite defenders of the Iron guard. His heroic status was achieved when he was working down in the mines (as all people do in Adbar from time to time, just to remember why they have to work so hard). Him and ten other dwarves suddenly emerged into a closed of cave. The cave contained a gigantic ice beast called a Remorhaz. The dwarves attacked the beast since it couldnt be allowed to enter the mines and reach other mining teams. The battle that followed killed five of the unarmed dwarves until Thordek used his stonepick to pierce the monsters brain and thus kill it. For this heroic deed, Thordek was allowed by the king to change his last name into Doomnair and starting a new clan inside Adbar. The pick and Thordeks greataxe are still on display in the Doomnairs Hall of Ancestors.
The clan of Doomnair contains about 300 dwarves. It is lead by the clan elder Walhelm Doomnair and sometimes his successor, Ulfgar Doomnair. The patron deity of the clan is Clangeddin, but as all dwarven clans, the people pray to Moradin, Berronar and other dwarven deities. The clan is famous for its battle prowess, its siege engines enginerring and its chewing herbs. The herbs are picked in the Silver Marches and are left to mature for a couple of years in a damp ale keg.
